The Green Island Construction Company (GICC) recently held a handing over ceremony for two newly completed condominium blocks in Perseverance. The ceremony marked a significant milestone as 10 professionals and graduates received the keys to their two-bedroom apartments.

The event was attended by Vice-President Ahmed Afif, chief executive of the Island Development Company (IDC) Glenny Savy, and Minister for Land and Housing, Billy Rangasamy. The keys were handed over to the new owners in a short ceremony that took place in unit GA1202, which belongs to Vanessa Leon.

Vanessa Leon, on behalf of the new tenants, expressed gratitude to all parties involved in making their dream of owning a home a reality. She thanked GICC for their commitment and dedication in completing the project. The general manager of GICC, Angelique Antat, highlighted the collaborative effort between IDC, GICC, and the Ministry of Land and Housing to provide housing for graduates and young Seychellois professionals.

The project consists of four blocks of two-bedroom apartments, totaling 79 units. There are 40 two-bedroom apartments, 20 three-bedroom apartments, and 19 luxury apartments. The completion of this phase marks a step towards accommodating more individuals in suitable locations.

Minister Rangasamy also shared his excitement and gratitude for the successful completion of another phase of the project. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that housing products cater to the financial needs of their clients. The minister urged patience and consistency in monthly payments towards the housing saving scheme for other applicants still waiting for their homes.

The minister noted the increase in the number of applicants following each allocation ceremony and stressed the importance of timely payments to secure a unit. He thanked GICC for their partnership and support in fulfilling the housing needs of the community. The government aims to complete the entire project by the end of 2025.

The cost of one condominium unit is R1.3 million, with a construction cost of around R2 million. The project aims to provide affordable housing options for Seychellois professionals and graduates.

Overall, the handing over ceremony was a momentous occasion symbolizing the collaboration between the public and private sectors to address the housing needs of the community. The event was a celebration of turning dreams into reality for the new homeowners, who can now enjoy their new apartments in the condominium blocks in Perseverance.
