Anse Royale-based Arsu finished in third place overall at the 28th African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone 7 Volleyball Club Championships held in Madagascar. The team retrograded to one spot down after being runners-up last year. In the third-place match, Arsu defeated Tampon Gecko Volley Club Sportif of Reunion with a score of 3-1 (25-19, 15-25, 25-14, 25-10) to secure the bronze medal.

Arsu’s journey in the championships was marked by victories in all three of their group matches, allowing them to finish as leaders in their group. In their first match in group B, Arsu triumphed over Tranquebar Black Rangers of Mauritius with a score of 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-18). They followed this up with another 3-0 victory against Zamfi Club de Mtezamboro of Mayotte (25-9, 25-12, 25-6). In their final group match, Arsu defeated Squad X-Club of Madagascar 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-11) to finish as group leaders and secure a spot in the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal, they eliminated St Denis of Reunion with a score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14).

Moving on to the semifinals, Arsu faced Gendarmerie Nationale of Madagascar and put up a strong fight but ultimately lost with a score of 2-3 (16-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-22, 15-3).

The team’s performance in the championships showcased their skill and determination, despite ultimately finishing in third place. Their ability to secure victories in the group stage and progress to the quarterfinals and semifinals highlights their competitive spirit and talent on the volleyball court.
