In a statement shared on his Facebook page, candidate Thierno Alassane Sall reveals that “The Constitutional Council of Senegal is facing enormous pressures aimed at destabilizing it and taming it: attacks on the morality of its members, diffuse threats of arrests, and other more insidious forms.”
According to him, “In this context, the idea of dissolving the Constitutional Council, as initially suggested by members of a parliamentary group during a press conference, is being spread in the form of persistent rumors.”
“The judges of the Constitutional Council have not failed to notice, like all the Senegalese people, that Macky Sall has chosen to ignore decision n°1/C/2024. The ‘best delays’ envisaged by Macky Sall violate the Constitution and the relevant decisions of the Council. Consequently, the Constitutional Council should dismiss the requests filed on February 26 by candidates, without giving Macky Sall any more time,” he stated.
