The case between Judge Souleymane Téliko and the administrator of the Avenir Communication group is finally closed. The conflict between the magistrate and the journalist has gone through three years of legal proceedings. This morning, the Supreme Court confirmed the decision of the Dakar Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal had dismissed the journalist’s complaint against the former president of the Magistrates’ Union of Senegal (Ums).

Madiambal Diagne, accused of defamation, had been sentenced to six months in prison, three of which were firm, on June 17, 2021, in the first instance. The court had also imposed a fine of 600 million CFA francs on him and ordered him to pay five million CFA francs to Souleymane Téliko.
