The caravan of the candidate of the Unity and Gathering Party (PUR) toured the city of Saint-Louis, where he made several promises to the fishing actors and the populations of the old city in general. Aliou Mamadou Dia extensively discussed the projects and programs he has in store for the tricentennial city.

At the Guet Ndar fishing dock on the Langue de Barbarie where he delivered his message, the candidate promised to implement a vast program for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage and the development of infrastructure in the former capital of the AOF. Aliou Mamadou Dia also expressed his willingness to organize fishery meetings to address the problems faced by fishermen.

He advocates for modern and sustainable fishing. He also committed to providing the city of Saint-Louis with a new modern bridge, a port worthy of its name, and to rehabilitate the fishing dock, which is currently in a pitiful state. “Once elected as the leader of this country, I plan to build here in Saint-Louis the most modern bridge in West Africa, which will be a twin of the Faidherbe bridge,” he promised to the people.

Aliou Mamadou Dia also expressed his desire to revitalize navigability on the Senegal River through the port of Saint-Louis to serve other cities in the country, including Podor, Matam, and even Bakel. He also addressed the issue of gas and pledged to work towards ensuring that it benefits the region’s populations. The PUR candidate concluded his speech by praying for the souls of the students killed at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis before promising to address the issue.
