The presidential election, which was supposed to take place on February 25, 2024, but was postponed to a later date, will finally be held on March 24. The Constitutional Council, which had the final say following the national dialogue report, was unable to set a date.
During the national dialogue, which took place over two days at Cicad, the nation’s stakeholders proposed the date of June 2, 2024, a date left to the discretion of the Constitutional Council’s wise men.
Just a few days before the start of the holy month of Ramadan, the 19 validated candidates will have to campaign during Ramadan.
Thus, the presidential election will take place before the end of Macky Sall’s mandate scheduled for April 2.
