A network of prostitution was dismantled by the elements of the Morals Brigade in Dakar. According to Le Soleil, the operation followed investigations conducted on the internet, indicating the presence of places of debauchery.
As part of the investigation, a police officer called one of the numbers displayed on a pornographic site, pretending to be a client. The meeting was then scheduled in a furnished apartment in Parcelles assainies. On site, two sex workers were apprehended along with D. Dia.
The latter, arrested for pimping and incitement to debauchery, is a metal carpenter by profession. According to preliminary investigation findings, the accused has been involved in pimping for seven months, renting a furnished apartment for 15,000 CFA francs per day. Dia had also recruited several girls, paying them 75,000 CFA francs per week, buying five phone chips, and paying for an advertisement on a pornographic site.
The investigation also revealed how the accused made contact with clients. According to the source, it was the carpenter himself who imitated a woman’s voice and offered 3 rates ranging from 5000 to 15,000 CFA francs.
He could thus earn up to 130,000 CFA francs per day. Since then, he has amassed 2 million CFA francs.
Tried yesterday, the defendant confessed everything. However, he claims that he did not know that the activity he was engaged in was “prohibited by law.”
He was sentenced to 1 year, including 3 months in prison, and fined 200,000 CFA francs. The Prosecutor had requested 6 months in prison.
