The Inspector of Taxes and Domains, Elimane Pouye, has given a strong testimony in favor of Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a candidate in the Presidential election on March 24, 2024.

Here is the testimony!

“For our part, without casting aspersions on anyone, we attest, before God and men, urbi et orbi, that Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye is one of the most honest Senegalese. During the first seven years of his career (2007 to 2014), he was an inspector-auditor, responsible for the tax control of the most important sectors and companies in Senegal. Not only did he carry out his mission with the greatest firmness and professional rigor, but he was never found at fault for acts of corruption, extortion, or collusion. The work position is tempting (corruption-inducing) and opportunities for paid arrangements were constant.

During the last seven years of his career (2014 to 2013), in his capacity as head of the Litigation Office of the Legislation Directorate responsible for validating tax refund and reimbursement requests made by taxpayers and preparing tax dispute arbitration files at both the administrative and jurisdictional levels, he spared no effort to defend the interests of the State or succumb to the daily temptations of corruption.

In both situations, he was in a fragile position, first as a young civil servant seeking social fulfillment, then as an opponent having to make a political machine work. In 2016, when the procedure to remove Sonko from office was launched, BDDF was supposed to be the second scapegoat. The State had requested that all tax procedures in which he had been involved be reviewed. Informed, he laughed heartily. Since then, the results of the State’s investigations are awaited.”
