The Minister of the Interior, Matar Cissé, is pleased with the conduct of the presidential election which saw the candidate of Pastef winning by a wide margin on the evening of March 24. Matar Cissé is proud of the Senegalese people who have expressed themselves freely. He expresses a “feeling of relief and happiness for the people, because that is what matters in the end.”
Matar Cissé informs that by Friday, the National Commission will release its results before the Constitutional Council confirms them…
He emphasizes that the election of Bassirou Diomaye Faye is not subject to any challenge, as he obtained the majority of votes.
Regarding the voter turnout, the Minister of the Interior explains that it is around 62%, lower than in 2019 when it was 65%, but significantly higher than the local and legislative elections which were below 50%.
