“I would like to say that this government is a government of mission, of action, and of urgency, in the context of preparing in the best conditions for the presidential election on March 24, 2024,” Prime Minister Sidiki Kaba immediately announced before reading the official list of government members.
In clear terms, Me Kaba stated that his team carries the weight of a very important mission in the current context of the country. Continuing, Me Kaba revealed the four missions assigned to them by President Macky Sall. He listed, “firstly: ensure the good organization of the presidential election on March 24, 2024. Secondly: address security, economic, and social emergencies, including the fight against high cost of living and the management of the agricultural marketing campaign. Thirdly: ensure the proper functioning of administrations to ensure the continuity of public services.
Fourthly: finalize the preparations for Senegal’s entry into the era of oil and gas exploitation, in line with the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE). “The new government,” added the lawyer, “includes 34 ministers, with 30 ministers heading ministerial departments instead of the previous 29 ministers. The government is notably marked by the merger of previous ministries, with the return of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Planning, the creation of a large ministry combining education and higher education, the establishment of a ministry for women in charge of community development equity, as well as addressing issues related to youth, entrepreneurship, creative industries, and leisure, and the promotion of national craftsmanship.”
