The Resistance Front “Fippu”, a coalition composed of F24, FC25, “Aar Sunu Election”, and FDD, held a press conference this Thursday to make an urgent request: the immediate organization of the presidential election before the end of the legal mandate of the President of the Republic, set for April 2. The representatives of these four entities emphasized the necessity of a democratic election, open to the participation of all 19 candidates recognized by the Constitutional Council.

At the beginning of the press conference, Maître Abdoulaye Tine, spokesperson of the Front, stated firmly: “Those who spoke before me have already said it. By April 2, at the latest, the President must leave power if he has not resigned by then.” In a room filled with a dense crowd, the jurist emphasized strongly, “We are the ones with legitimacy. If we compare this crowd to the one in Diamniadio, the latter does not have more legitimacy than us.”

Basing his argument on article 92 and the principle of res judicata, Maître Tine argued that the conclusions of the ongoing dialogue could not in any way modify the previous decisions made by the Constitutional Council. He added that the outgoing president must leave in peace, as he announced, or else the Front will take responsibility to protect the country.

In conclusion, the jurist categorically stated: “President Macky Sall holds the record for human rights violations at the time of assessment.”
