Candidate for the Presidential election on March 24, 2024, Bassirou Diomaye Faye will not have airtime on the national channel. At least, not while he is in prison.
Indeed, the National Council for Audiovisual Regulation (CNRA) announced that they have blocked the airtime of the candidate from Pastef, Ousmane Sonko’s dissolved party. “The airtime for March 10, 2024, of the candidate Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye will not be broadcast,” decided Babacar Diagne’s services at the end of their session on Sunday, March 10.
They considered that it follows from the provisions of the Electoral Code that “airtime is reserved for candidates in the running for the Presidency of the Republic listed and published by the Constitutional Council.”
