The parade celebrating Senegal’s independence will not take place this year. For the national holiday, instead of the grand civilian and military parade, the Presidency has opted for the flag-raising ceremony at the Palace.
The political context marked by the end of the President’s term reduces the independence day celebration of Senegal, which is celebrated on April 4, to almost nothing. All related public events are canceled throughout the entire national territory. Only a flag-raising ceremony at the Palace is planned.
It should be noted that in 2020, the traditional parade did not take place due to Covid-19.
