Convicted and removed from the electoral lists, the judge from Ziguinchor had ordered the reinstatement of Ousmane Sonko in the registry before being confirmed by the judge of Dakar. However, the Senegalese state had filed an appeal against this decision, which will be judged on March 14.

The electoral process has already been finalized and Ousmane Sonko can no longer be a candidate in this 2024 presidential election, but the court will review the appeal of the Senegalese state, which contested the decision of the judge of Dakar, confirming the decision of Ziguinchor requesting the reinstatement of Ousmane Sonko in the electoral register. This review of the appeal will take place on March 14. Ousmane Sonko will be represented by Me Bamba Cissé and his team of lawyers, while the Senegalese state will be represented by the State Legal Agent (SLA), accompanied by state lawyers including Me El Hadji Diouf.
