President Macky Sall has reaffirmed that he will leave power on April 2nd. But before he leaves, the Executive Director of Amnesty International’s section in Senegal gives him one last piece of advice. He asks the head of state to apologize for the authoritarian abuses and shortcomings of his regime.

“He owes an apology to the Senegalese people for the authoritarian abuses and shortcomings of his regime that have caused so much suffering and tarnished the image of our democracy. He must organize a flawless election and prevent the country from experiencing a destabilizing post-electoral crisis,” wrote Seydi Gassama.
