The tension continues to rise at the National Sanitation Office of Senegal (Onas). Service providers have strongly criticized the Director General, Mamadou Mamour Diallo, accusing him of engaging in clientelist recruitment practices, and demanding his immediate departure.
They are sounding the alarm about the “abusive recruitment carried out by our Director Mamour Diallo, which we consider not only detrimental to the organization but also to the new regime.”
The spokesperson for the collective of service providers, Demba Sèye, emphasizes that since Mamour Diallo took over the leadership of Onas, he has been engaging in “abuse of authority” by signing service contracts with retirees associated with the IPRES, with exorbitant remuneration.
He further adds that numerous fixed-term contracts are being awarded to individuals who have no knowledge or expertise in sanitation work, displacing the existing service provider personnel.
Most frustratingly, he points out that the Director General has recruited over 15 people on permanent contracts, neglecting the former service providers who dedicated their entire lives to Onas.
Directly appealing to the new President of the Republic, Demba Sèye and his colleagues also demand the cancellation of the recently signed permanent contracts, the recruitment of service provider personnel, and salary increases.
When contacted by “L’As,” the communication service of the General Directorate promises to respond in order to clarify the situation.
