The Supreme Court will rule this Friday on the appeal of the Senegalese Democratic Party (Pds) and its allies. They are challenging the decree summoning the electoral college on March 24.
The judicial institution has accepted the request of the plaintiffs to hold an emergency hearing due to the tight deadlines.
The Democratic Front for an Inclusive Election (Fdpei), comprising the Pds and its allies, had approached the Supreme Court to complain about the decree summoning the electoral college.
The Pds and its allies argue that the Constitutional Council is not authorized to choose a date for the Presidential election. They also point out that the Electoral Code stipulates that the electoral campaign should last 21 days instead of 12 as it currently stands.
