During the ongoing hearing of the Criminal Chamber of Dakar yesterday, Tuesday, some detainees expressed their dissatisfaction. According to the source, these individuals, who have been in detention for a long period, strongly reacted to the postponement of their case, considering this decision as the last straw.

Among them, the newspaper mentions five people accused, among other things, of criminal association, who expressed their anger after the repeated postponement of their trial. This time, the source indicates, “Me Ndiack Ba, replacing Me Abdoulaye Tall, requested the postponement on behalf of his colleague.”

The judge then acceded to this request, which caused frustration among the accused. The Prosecutor, shocked by the situation, left his seat to join them, saying, “if you had done nothing wrong, you wouldn’t be here.” Despite this, the detainees continued to express their distress. A. Samb, called to the stand and presented in a wheelchair, did not accept the decision to postpone his case. “I have been in detention for 3 years even though I am wrongly accused. I have no one to defend me. I have no lawyer. Please, judge me,” he cried.

The hearing was abruptly suspended. The newspaper highlights that discussions with the judge were necessary, who gave assurances to calm the situation. “I have heard you, and I will take all of this into account,” promised the magistrate.
