The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who chaired the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, gave several instructions regarding audits and legislative texts projects. The head of state presided over the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday. During the meeting, he stated that the General Inspectorate of State (Ige) will provide a preliminary report and a final report on each handover of duties. He even asked the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, to update on all handovers of duties.

In terms of governance, the head of state ordered the annual organization of control missions in constitutional institutions. “He has already instructed the Ige to carry out a control mission of the presidency’s services as soon as possible,” the statement reports. The head of state also ordered the publication of reports from the Court of Auditors, the Ige, and the Ofnac from the past five years.

Regarding senior management positions and others, the new head of state asked the Prime Minister to prepare a draft decree regarding the call for candidacies for certain high-level positions in some public and parastatal sectors.

On the legislative front, President Faye instructed the government to finalize a draft law on the protection of whistleblowers by May 15th.
