Activist Pape Abdoulaye Touré informs that he suffered a faint on the day of Korité. Taken to the main hospital in Dakar, the activist was surprised by the high cost of analysis and hospitalization fees. “I was examined by a doctor and blood tests were done for analysis. And just for the consultation and tests, the hospital handed me a bill of 81,640 CFA francs on the same day,” says Pape Abdoulaye Touré.

The activist thus deplores the high cost of these analysis and consultation services and thinks about Senegalese people who struggle to make ends meet. “I want to point out that I wasn’t given any IVs, scans, or prescriptions. Just to say that our hospitals have become hospitals for the wealthy. No treatment was prescribed to me, yet I have to pay 81,640 CFA francs just like that,” he protests.

Unable to pay, Pape Abdoulaye Touré claims that the hospital kept his mother’s ID card as collateral until he could settle the bill. The activist mentions that he is currently at home, lying down in pain.
