The putschist President is aware, at the twilight of his unlimited and unrestrained power, of the immense harm he has inflicted upon our battered bodies and oppressed minds. He knows that everything ends with memories. For him, everything will end with dreadful memories, with the impossible return to normal life among the poor people. He dreads the inevitable confrontation with the population when stripped of the robes and trappings of power, he will have to meet the inquisitive eyes of the populations he used to look down on and mistreat. The hell of others is already in his subconscious. The putschist President wants to erase the past. He wants to absolve his sins. He wants through burglary to integrate into the paradise of endless years to come, without power, at the mercy of the judgments of countries with laws of universal jurisdiction, at the mercy of a return to ordinary life, which he will not fail to encounter wherever he seeks refuge.

There have been assassinations, far too many assassinations. There have been economic crimes, far too many economic crimes. There have been notable injustices, abominable judgments based on favoritism, scandals, unjust and violent seizures of lands, goods, women of others, and children.

There have been humiliations of men, women, families, ethnicities, etc. Many people have lost the taste for life, the hope of living happily in their country. To save their honor and dignity, many of our compatriots have gone into exile. (…) It is impossible to list the wrongs that the putschist President has created, provoked, and perpetuated.

Now that he must leave, he wants to erase everything from our memory, to carry out a brutal brainwashing as brutal as his unjust actions were. He wants to forgive and have forgiven those who do not ask for forgiveness but cry out for justice, justice!

What is the point of a fake forgiveness if there is no reconciliation?

In fact, we are not in a time of settling scores, but in a time of pacification of the political space. The time will come, when the putschist President finally leaves power, for the time of truth, justice, reparation, and reconciliation. Forgetting does not exist in the face of cruel injustice. Only truth and justice can soothe hearts, mitigate resentments, and make memories less cruel.
