The police in Dakar Plateau have completed their investigation into the death of Baidy Amar, which occurred in an apartment in the downtown area of the Senegalese capital. According to the death certificate issued by the Principal Hospital of Dakar, “the cause of death is related to an overdose of cocaine.” The friends of the deceased, who were present during the tragedy, are now being prosecuted for the use of this substance.

According to L’Observateur, Baidy Amar’s brother alerted the police after discovering the body, and investigators visited the scene of the incident. Residues of cocaine were found on the bed where Baidy was lying, along with a packet of 25 grams of the drug. The investigation revealed that the deceased was with his girlfriend, M. D, of Algerian nationality in a room. The evening among the couples took a tragic turn when Baidy had a crisis due to excessive drug consumption.

The friends present, MD (Algerian), ZF, JM (French), and the driver AS, tried to revive him, in vain. They then took him to the Principal Hospital of Dakar, where his death was confirmed. Investigators found that the cocaine had been obtained through a delivery man who handed the packet to the driver AS. The latter confessed to not knowing the contents.

The autopsy revealed a “probable cardio-respiratory arrest likely due to an overdose of inhaled dose.” MD, ZF, JM, and AS are now facing charges for “drug use” and will appear before the prosecutor’s office in Dakar.
