Moustapha Diakhate, a former deputy and former president of the parliamentary group Benno Bokk Yakaar, has expressed sharp criticisms against the amnesty law proposed by President Macky Sall to the National Assembly, which is expected to be voted on tomorrow. Surprisingly, these criticisms come from within the presidential camp, as Moustapha Diakhate is a member of the ruling party.
During an intervention on the Tfm channel, Moustapha Diakhate described Macky Sall’s decision as “high treason,” stating that the beneficiaries of this amnesty law did not deserve such forgiveness. He strongly criticized Ousmane Sonko without naming him, but referring to him as the source of the disturbances that shook Senegal, causing deaths and material losses among citizens due to protests.
Moustapha Diakhate, very virulent and angry towards Macky Sall, articulated his reproaches in these terms: “Can you imagine, following the lies and the deplorable behavior of an adult, a provocateur, all of this plunged the country into chaos at the time. The country suffered a lot, and many lives were lost. The country suffered a lot, just like its citizens who also lost their belongings. And now, Macky Sall is trying to erase these events from the memory of citizens, an action that I consider a scandal and high treason. This constitutes high treason against the gendarmerie, the police, the governors, the prefects, the sub-prefects, high treason against all the Senegalese judiciary. Through these acts, Macky Sall has written a black page in the history of the Republic of Senegal.”
