Maurice Soudieck Dione, a teacher-researcher in political science at Gaston-Berger University in Saint-Louis, applauds the diligence with which the government was put in place. For him, the arrival of Mankeur Ndiaye, who returns to the Foreign Affairs, could help restore the image of Senegal, which has suffered a serious blow in recent days.

“It is perhaps necessary to applaud the diligence with which the government was put in place. Now that there has been the reduction in the size of the government a month before the end of the term of the current President, I think that fundamentally, it is not very interesting if we think in terms of sober or virtuous governance. Because these are things that could have been done before,” said Maurice Soudieck Dione.

Furthermore, the teacher-researcher in political science notes, “Another thing is the departure of Me Sidiki Kaba from the Ministry of Interior to take up the position of Prime Minister, it was normal for him to be replaced by someone else. In this perspective, the appointment of Mr. Mactar Cissé, who has held high positions such as Director of Customs, Minister, and Director of the President’s Cabinet, is seen as a logical choice as he will be responsible for completing the electoral process with the administration of the Directorate General of Elections.”

Regarding the case of Mankeur Ndiaye, who is appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dione supports, “Perhaps the President wanted to change the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Because recently, Senegal has been criticized, pointed fingers at, stigmatized, and rightly so by the international community. Because what happened is unacceptable. There was a serious and substantial violation of democracy with the illegal and illegitimate postponement of the election by decree 10 hours before the campaign. As a result, all partners have requested that Senegalese democracy be saved, preserved, and that the process continues. Because this rejection by the international community of this constitutional coup that was perpetrated may be why the Minister was changed,” he said on Sud Fm.
