The Council of Ministers, held under the auspices of President Macky Sall on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Palace of the Republic, was marked by a focus on the presidential transition and recognition of the successful conduct of the presidential election.
At the beginning of his communication, the outgoing President praised the excellent organization and conduct of the presidential election on March 24, 2024. He congratulated the Minister of Interior, the territorial and electoral administration, and the National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA). The President also acknowledged the significant contribution of the defense and security forces, whose commitment and professionalism were crucial in ensuring that the election took place in a calm and peaceful manner.
Following the meeting, the Head of State reiterated his congratulations to Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, the newly elected President of the Republic of Senegal, the fifth since the country’s independence. To facilitate the installation of the elected president under the best conditions, Macky Sall instructed the Government, the Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, and the Minister, Secretary General of the Government, to carefully prepare the handover of power documentation.
