Macky Sall, the President of Senegal still in office until April 2, is not resting and is already preparing to embrace his new international responsibilities. Appointed as a special envoy of the Paris Pact for People and the Planet (4P) by French President Emmanuel Macron, he will take up his duties immediately after the end of his presidential term.
This morning, in a video conference with the French President, discussions between Macky Sall and the 4P secretariat focused on the agenda and challenges that await the former Senegalese president in his new role. This appointment comes at a pivotal moment, just after the conclusion of his twelve-year term as President of Senegal, marked by the elections on March 24 which saw Bassirou Diomaye Faye elected as his successor.
The transfer of power between Macky Sall and Bassirou Diomaye Faye is scheduled for April 2, 2024.
