An information from Source A. In its edition of Monday, March 11, this news daily reveals that President Macky Sall does not intend to finance the campaign for the presidential candidate of his former Prime Minister Amadou Bâ, who is running under the coalition Benno Bokk Yakaar of which he is the president. “The occupant of the Palace has decided not to participate in the war effort,” the newspaper asserts.

To make matters worse, many high-ranking officials of the presidential majority have taken the same stance. “These individuals have chosen not to contribute any money from their pockets for the campaign funds,” reports Source A, citing ‘insider information.’ This is a way to avoid any misunderstandings with the Head of State.

The issue of funding the pre-election activities of Amadou Bâ was the focus of discussion at his campaign directorate meeting last Friday. This issue is not being treated in the same manner as in the past. “During the legislative elections of 2022, as compared by Source A, the presidential majority did not spare any expenses. Each of the 557 municipal electoral committees received 5 million each. The city committees each received 10 million. In addition to this funding, special support was provided to the various candidates of Benno.”
