Several dozen activists and protesters gathered at the HLM Grand Yoff housing complex at the call of the Front de résistance Fippu, to demand the organization of a presidential election before the end of the current president’s term.
However, unexpectedly, the protest was interrupted by stone-throwing after heckling disrupted the speech of the representative of Khalifa Ababacar Sall.
Supporters of the imprisoned opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko, chanted their leader’s name during the speech. On iRadio, the leader of Taxawu Senegal, Khalifa Sall, strongly condemned the skirmishes and urged both parties to put an end to their quarrel.
According to him, the only worthwhile fight today is for Macky Sall to leave the country’s leadership on April 2, 2024. Mamadou Mbodj, coordinator of F24, agrees with this perspective.
In his opinion, the opposition must urgently abandon this partisan spirit and focus on the departure of the President of the Republic starting from April 2 next year.
