“Dear compatriots,

I warmly congratulate Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his resounding victory in the first round of the presidential election. Our fellow citizens did not allow themselves to be manipulated by low maneuvers aimed at distorting the sincerity of the vote. Democracy has won.

I wholeheartedly thank the members and supporters of the Senegalese Democratic Party and its allies in the K24 Coalition, whose votes were essential. Our participation in this historic turning point clearly expresses our common desire for renewal and a better future for Senegal. We must be aware of the responsibility that falls on all of us as architects of our future. This victory is not an end in itself. It is a first step that will allow us to walk together, united by the same desire for justice, transparency, and equality for our country.

We, as Senegalese, must reconcile and set aside our differences to work together in building the Senegal of tomorrow. This will require unwavering commitment and hard work on our part. We must use the energy of our victory to carry out concrete actions that meet the expectations of the people and, as demanded by the youth, lay the foundations of a more just and inclusive society. I commit to fully support this collective effort and invite each and every one of you to join me. With determination and solidarity, we must build the Senegal that we deserve.

A Senegal where every citizen can thrive, where justice will cease to be a threat and become a guarantee, and where our children can be assured of a promising future.

For the love of our country, for the future that we all desire, let us engage with determination in this great work of reconciliation and construction. Let us celebrate the victory of democracy, but remain aware of the long road ahead.

Senegal calls us to action, let us respond with hope and courage. Forward, towards a renewed and united Senegal! Long live Democracy! Long live Senegal! Long live Africa!”

Karim Wade”
