The candidate of the Unity and Gathering Party (PUR), Aliou Mamadou Dia, has started his campaign in the department of Dakar and its municipalities, seeking to once again commune with the populations of the capital. During this first stage, the PUR successfully mobilized a large number of Senegalese in Ouakam, HLM, Ngor, Yoff, Parcelles Assainies, Hann, Yarakh, and Grand Yoff to welcome candidate Aliou Mamadou Dia.
Addressing various issues in his speeches, candidate Dia has notably committed to solving sanitation problems, as he humorously pointed out during his visit to Parcelles Assainies: “we are in the un-sanitized Parcelles”. It should be noted that the PUR candidate, a geographer by training, has expertise in territorial planning issues. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that Aliou Mamadou Dia has recognized experience in managing natural disasters, having worked with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Among the other topics discussed is the issue of access to housing, for which the candidate proposes the implementation of a program called “One Household, One Roof”.
In his speeches, he particularly emphasized the importance of youth and women in Senegalese society. Aliou Mamadou Dia solemnly called on the youth to stop illegal migration and contribute to the building of a prosperous Senegal. As for women, the candidate detailed his program aimed at empowering them, drawing on his previous experience at the UNDP in Africa to further include them in national development. The candidate expressed his gratitude to all the populations who supported him on this first day of the campaign, and invited Senegalese citizens to embrace his vision of a new, united, and prosperous Senegal.
