On Monday, Macky Sall received the conclusions of the national dialogue. Faced with various stakeholders, the President emphasized the idea-sharing process that he initiated, while also noting that he had the authority to set the date of the Presidential election after the decision of the Constitutional Council.

“I have taken note of the recommendations from the national dialogue. After the decision of the Constitutional Council, I could have immediately set the date (of the Presidential election) by decree, but I believe it was necessary to share this major issue with the relevant stakeholders, including candidates, political parties, and the nation’s key players. That is why I thank all those who participated because the presidential election requires the input of as many people as possible,” stated Macky Sall in front of the leaders of the national dialogue forums.

“Following this dialogue, I believe I will be in a better position to set a date. I also need to consult the Constitutional Council for their opinion,” added the President. The official date of the Presidential election should therefore be announced shortly.
