The editor-in-chief of 7TV, Sékou Dramé, provides an update on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the channel, Maïmouna Ndour Faye. After being a victim of an attack, the journalist received three stab wounds before being admitted to the military hospital in Ouakam. Fortunately, her life is not in danger. “I was at the hospital this morning (Friday) and Maïmouna is currently out of danger,” whispered her colleague.
Interviewed by Le Soleil, Dramé recounts the events: “She was on the phone at the time of the attack. It was her caller who alerted the people who came to rescue her before taking her to the hospital in Ouakam.”
The host of the show “Grand angle” on the same channel, Pape Moctar Selane, is outraged: “The person who did this wanted to take Maïmouna Ndour Faye’s life so that she would remain silent forever.” However, he added in the newspaper: “It is a lost cause because she is a courageous woman, professional, and has the courage of her convictions. Maïmouna will come back stronger, more dynamic, and will face it.”
In support of their colleagues, journalists rallied in front of the 7TV headquarters yesterday. State authorities and the political class unanimously condemned the act.
