The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, made a courtesy visit to the religious city of Tivaouane on Monday evening, where he was received by the Grand Khalifa of the Tidjanes, Serigne Mbaye Sy Mansour. This visit is part of a series of trips to the country’s main religious cities, starting with a stop in Touba, according to information gathered by the APS.
Having taken office on April 2nd, Bassirou Diomaye Faye chose to start his official visits to religious cities with Touba, a symbolic gesture emphasizing the importance of these communities in Senegalese society. In Tivaouane, a special arrangement was made in anticipation of this visit, reflecting the respect and importance given to these exchanges by the State.
The president was accompanied by a delegation including the Minister of Interior, Jean Baptiste Tine, the Minister of Transports, Malick Ndiaye, and his Chief of Staff, Mary Teuw Niane.
