The Special Customs and Research Brigade (BSR) made an impressive haul by seizing black bills worth 314,826,036 of our francs on Sunday, April 9, 2024 at around 10 am in the Balabey district of Thiès.
The announcement was made in a statement: “The seizure is the result of intelligence on individuals holding black bills looking for a way to turn them into dollars. The surveillance system and the intervention of the Special Customs and Research Brigade elements allowed to stop the money laundering operation and seize the package containing the greenish-colored bills.”
“In total, there were five thousand four hundred (5400) black bills in one hundred (100) US dollar denominations. Six individuals involved in this counterfeiting operation were apprehended at the scene and handed over to the Thiès Prosecutor’s Office,” the statement added.
This successful operation highlights the commitment of the BSR in combating illegal activities such as counterfeiting and money laundering.
