The Presidential Palace was the scene of an important meeting on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Consumer protection was also discussed, emphasizing the efforts made by the State to ensure fair prices and adequate supply of essential products, especially during Lent and Ramadan. Strict control measures and consultations with trade actors were announced to anticipate any speculation on the markets.
The upcoming celebration of International Consumer Rights Day on March 15, 2024, was highlighted as an opportunity to strengthen the national strategy in this area.
Furthermore, International Civil Protection Day, scheduled for March 1, 2024, was an opportunity to salute the progress made in strengthening the National Fire Brigade and to call for an acceleration of the implementation of the National Civil Protection Strategy.
On the legislative front, the Council of Ministers examined and adopted several bills and decrees, including the bill on amnesty and the decree amending the one concerning the special retirement allowance for university teachers and researchers.
Finally, important appointments were announced, including Mr. Diène NDIAYE as Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure, Mr. Mamadou Lamine Bara GUEYE as Director General of the Office of Management of Sports Facilities, and Mr. Pape Sambare NDIAYE as Director of General Administration and Equipment at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energies.
