The coming months will reveal whether this era is authentically new, and if actions will follow words,” he said to the French newspaper “La Voix du Nord.”
Despite his desire to give Bassirou Diomaye Faye time to prove his worth, Cheikh Yérim Seck still raises reservations about the profile of the new president, comparing him to the four previous heads of state of Senegal. “Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a former collaborator of Ousmane Sonko, is a former tax inspector. His professional experience is less compared to that of his four predecessors, who all held high government positions before assuming the presidency. His arrival may seem somewhat unexpected. However, it is necessary to wait for the first hundred days of his term to fully assess his presidency,” Cheikh Yérim Seck judged.
