The central police station in Saint-Louis referred the suspect S. Dia, an apprentice driver suspected of raping a student in an unfinished building in Louga. Seneweb provides details of the investigation.

Raped while on her way to Saint-Louis, 21-year-old student Y. F. S. will likely be scarred for life by her ordeal. Her nightmare began on the night from Sunday to Monday, as she was leaving Kébémer to reach Saint-Louis. She boarded a bus at the same time as her attacker S. Dia, a supposed apprentice driver.

Upon reaching Louga, the bus owner instructed his clients that he needed to change his destination. He advised S. Dia to find another vehicle to take the student to her destination. “But on the way, he used trickery to take her to an isolated location and lead her into an unfinished building, using threats and intimidation. S. Dia then raped the girl,” a source from Seneweb reports. Once his deed was done, S. Dia boarded another vehicle that took them to Saint-Louis.

Upon arrival, student Y. F. S. recounted her ordeal in detail. Her older brother later found the suspect at the bus station in the old town. S. Dia was handed over to the officers under Commissioner Moustapha Diouf.

Following an investigation led by Lieutenant Bachir Ndao, head of urban security, the alleged rapist was brought before the court of Saint-Louis.

Cloistered inside the police station, S. Dia awaits his fate as the legal process unfolds. The victim, Y. F. S., must now navigate the trauma of her assault and the judicial system’s procedures. This harrowing incident serves as a harsh reminder of the violence and danger that women face in society.

The swift response from law enforcement in apprehending the suspect is a step towards justice for the victim. It highlights the importance of addressing and combating gender-based violence in all its forms. The community must come together to support and protect those who have been affected by such heinous acts.

As the case progresses through the legal system, the hope is that the victim will receive the justice and support she deserves. It is crucial for society to stand up against violence and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. Only then can we strive towards a safer and more just world for all.
