Theater of a great gathering at the public square of the city, Dagana said yes to Macky Sall’s choice. It honored Amadou Ba, the candidate of the presidential majority, for the March 24, 2024, election.
Men and women of all ages surged towards the banks of the Senegal River where Benno Bokk Yakk had called for a meeting. In a picturesque setting where the river flirts with the bushes that populate the lands of Walo, the local Benno rallied its troops. They are determined to shorten the deadline of March 24, thus making quick work of the rest of the opposition.
Some may call it a dream, but for Amadou Ba, it’s a reality. From the seat of his beautiful car, hand in hand with Omar Sarr, he says, “Dagana is for progress. Dagana is for serenity. Dagana is for stability. Its mobilization today eloquently attests to it. The debate in Dagana is not about who will win the election. It is more about by how much we will win here. I just ask you to add 5% to your usual score.”
Both in Dagana and along the rest of the journey leading to Podor, spontaneous mobilizations in favor of the ruling coalition marked the Prime Minister’s trip. This is quite encouraging for Benno and hints at a certain triumph in this part of the country on the evening of March 24.
