A fire of rare violence broke out this Wednesday morning at the courthouse in Dakar, PressAfrik has learned. According to our source, the fire was said to have been caused by a gas explosion. It started on the ground floor, precisely in the archives room, before consuming a good part of the furniture.

There was more fear than harm because the staff who had just arrived mobilized quickly to contain the flames. The firefighters arrived with three tanker trucks. An ambulance was also deployed on the scene. This suggests that there are one or more victims of the fire. The firefighters are still hard at work to extinguish the flames.

Facing the thick cloud of smoke and the hysterical cries of some women, the gendarmes cordoned off the scene of the incident before evacuating all the people present at the courthouse in Dakar. Staff and litigants on the premises were emptied from the site.
