School House Emerges Victorious at UNILAG ISL 33rd Athletics Meet

The 33rd International School (ISL), University of Lagos’ yearly inter-house athletics competition held at the Sports Centre, University of Lagos (UNILAG) concluded with a stunning victory by School House (Green), who dethroned defending champions Senate House (Blue). The event, witnessed by parents and friends of the students, saw School House clinch the top spot with an impressive haul of 10 gold, seven silver, and 11 bronze medals. Senate House secured the second position with eight gold, 12 silver, and five bronze medals, while Bursary (White) House finished third with eight gold, six silver, and six bronze medals, also winning the march past competition with a total score of 121 points.

The competition saw Usman Salih of School House emerge as the Best Overall Athlete in the junior category, while Shittu Ibrahim of Chancellery’s (Yellow House) received the honor in the senior class. The principal of ISL, Kolawole Amusan, spoke about the significance of sports as a platform for discovering talent and promoting a wholesome upbringing for the students. He emphasized the shift in perception from considering sports and extra-curricular activities as a distraction to recognizing their role in enhancing the overall performance and development of the students.

The event was marked by a spectacular display of athleticism and sportsmanship, showcasing the dedication and hard work of the participants.
