President Mohamud was warmly received by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed Bin Salman at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah. The discussions emphasized the mutual concern for Somalia’s sovereignty and unity, highlighting the growing economic ties between the two countries. Trade saw a significant increase of 105% from 2021 to 2022, with a focus on economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Both sides explored opportunities presented by Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to boost investment in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, transportation, and logistics services. The discussions extended to the importance of maintaining stability in the global energy markets, with Somalia commending the Kingdom’s role in ensuring a balanced oil market conducive to sustainable economic growth.
Military and security cooperation were also key topics, with a focus on combating terrorism, smuggling, and other forms of crime through shared information and resources. Saudi Arabia praised Somalia’s efforts under President Mohamud’s leadership in restoring security and combating terrorist organizations, highlighting the need for international support in these endeavors.
