The authorities of both countries discussed on March 11, 2024, the intention to set up a joint commission between the 2 states to discuss certain common interest issues.
A Central African delegation, led by Prime Minister Félix Moloua, held a working meeting with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Eurasian integration, international organizations such as BRICS, and international events, Mr. Alexey Overchuk. This working meeting is part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
In the substantive discussion, the head of the Central African government emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in the areas of education, higher education, trade, Russian private investments in the Central African Republic, and electricity production. He also requested the support of Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, for the lifting of the arms embargo to the CAR, and Russia’s support for the National Development Plan 2024-2028, which is being developed to succeed the RCPCA as a framework for dialogue between the CAR and its technical and financial partners. Russia’s support for local elections was also discussed, as well as support in the in-depth research for determining the quantity of mineral resources in the CAR.
Félix Moloua expressed gratitude for the work done to secure the country, and for the delivery of wheat to combat food insecurity, and Russian cooperation with the Central African customs administration.
According to the Prime Minister’s office of the CAR: “the Russian leader recalled the principles of non-interference, respect for the principle of self-determination of peoples that underpin international cooperation, and especially the fact that Russia and the Central African Republic do not accept blackmail in international relations and expressed his country’s support for the CAR as it moves towards sustainable development of its economy after securing its territory.”
