The Kingdom of Morocco has been re-elected with great success in the person of Mrs. Charafat Afailal to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights for the period 2025-2028, during the elections held by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on April 9, 2024 in New York.

Réélection du Maroc au Comité des droits économiques, sociaux et culturels
Morocco’s re-election to this UN treaty body reflects the international community’s confidence in the actions taken by the Kingdom, under the Very High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, for the protection and promotion of human rights in their indivisibility and universality.

This re-election also confirms the credibility of Morocco’s efforts to address global challenges that hinder the full enjoyment of people’s economic, social, and cultural rights. The Kingdom’s commitment in this regard has been demonstrated in recent years by the launch of several socio-economic projects under the High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, including the universalization of social protection and the New Development Model.

It is worth noting that Mrs. Charafat Afailal is a recognized expert in economic, social, and cultural rights, especially in the field of water. As a former government official, she has been involved in the development and implementation of national and international initiatives aimed at ensuring universal and equitable access to this vital resource.
