Following the 5 latest reports from the surveillance unit of the fight against corruption, fraud, bribery, and misconduct, the Prime Minister presided over a meeting with sectorial ministers on April 8, 2024.

The meeting was held in the conference room of the Prime Minister’s office, chaired by the Prime Minister and head of the government, Félix Moloua. Some government members from sectors involved in the fight against corruption attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister reminded all ministers that the report submitted was compiled by judicial police officers working within the unit. Therefore, sanctions must be taken to put an end to the trend among some state agents of extorting money from Central Africans at legal checkpoints. “We must leave here with a strong message to dishonest agents,” emphasized Félix Moloua.

During the ensuing discussions, it was decided that a circular letter signed by the Prime Minister would be sent throughout the administration and to all checkpoints to inform them of the cessation of using “auxiliaries” at the checkpoints. The hierarchical leaders at the checkpoints will be held responsible if an auxiliary is caught. The transfer of all agents at legal checkpoints was also decided.

Before concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister announced the launch of secure receipts by the end of April. This will help prevent the manipulation of money at the checkpoints.
