The Prime Minister, Félix Moloua, signed on February 20, 2024, a decree sanctioning state agents who are refractory to legal barriers.

In order to facilitate the mobility of goods and people on all roads in the Central African Republic, measures are being taken against corrupt law enforcement agents who continue to extort money from road users.

The head of government, Félix Moloua, signed the decree establishing sanctions against state agents who extort money from road users during routine identity checks at legal barriers.

Before signing this law, the head of government delivered a firm speech, stating from the outset that “we have reached a crucial moment in the fight against illegal barriers. The time for games is over. It is time to punish the bad apples who have not yet understood that the money they take from citizens is the cause of inflation in our country.” Secure receipts will now be distributed to all state agents stationed at the 93 legal barriers to control goods and issue receipts if necessary. This will allow the Ministry of Finance and Budget to know exactly what should be paid into the state’s coffers.

The Prime Minister warns: “any state agent who takes money from citizens during checks will be severely sanctioned.”
