This initiative is part of a larger program to develop transport infrastructure, covering a total distance of 5,650 kilometers across the country. The goal is to create a modern and efficient infrastructure that connects various regions of the country, improving internal connectivity as well as with neighboring countries.

The information was disseminated by several Algerian media outlets, regarding the revival of the Annaba tramway. According to some sites, the project involves the construction of a railway line connecting the city of Annaba to Tunisia. This initiative is part of a larger program to develop transport infrastructure, covering a total distance of 5,650 kilometers across the country. It is also an ambitious initiative aimed at facilitating travel and strengthening ties between the two countries. The Algerian government, through the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, has highlighted a large-scale project that promises to transform cross-border travel.

It should be noted that Tunisia welcomes over a million Algerian visitors each year, mainly for tourism, especially during the summer and New Year celebrations, as well as for medical reasons. The new railway link aims not only to facilitate these trips but also to make them more enjoyable.

Construction will be completed by 2026 in the ambitious project of connecting the north to the south of the country via the “Algeria-Tamanrasset” railway line. The works of this monumental line will be completed in 2026, marking a major step in improving connectivity across the vast Algerian territory.

These railway development projects demonstrate Algeria’s willingness to modernize its transport infrastructure and facilitate exchanges and tourism with Tunisia.

By improving connectivity not only nationally but also regionally, Algeria is positioning itself as a key player in the economic and social development of the region. The completion of these projects could mark the beginning of a new era of prosperity and cooperation between the two neighboring nations.
