Football Kenya Federation Premier League sides Posta Rangers and Kenya Police secured a spot in the Round of 32 after defeating lower league opponents in the preliminary round of the MozzartBet Cup. Posta Rangers emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against Wisdom Academy at the Ndura Sports Complex in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, while Kenya Police claimed a 2-0 win over Football Kenya Federation Division Two Side Vegpro at Longonot Horticulture Grounds in Naivasha town.

Midfielder Brian Marita scored twice in the 57th and 75th minutes for Posta Rangers, ensuring their place in the Round of 32, where they will face Kenya Police on February 24. Meanwhile, new signing Samuel Onyango and Uganda-born South Sudanese import Tito Okello secured a comfortable win for Kenya Police over Vegpro.

Posta Rangers coach John Kamau commended Wisdom for their good performance, acknowledging their young team and talent development. Wisdom coach Edwin Anange also recognized the valuable experience gained by his players in facing a topflight side.

In Naivasha, Kenya Police’s regular players, including Abud Omar, Tyson Otieno, and Tito Okello, dominated the game and secured the win. Okello, who has eight goals in all competitions, including six in the league, scored the opening goal in the 12th minute.

Kenya Police coach Salim Babu expressed the team’s determination in the competition, citing their intention to improve on last season’s performance. The results of the Saturday matches were Wisdom Academy 0 Posta Rangers 2, with Sunday’s fixtures including Al Aziza v FC Luanda Villa, Eldoro Sports Club Villa v Mombasa Stars, Marafiki v FC Talanta, and Bungoma Stars v Bandari.
