Police in Nairobi are investigating a violent robbery that occurred at a club in the Industrial Area. The thugs stole electronics and alcoholic drinks worth Sh6.2 million after tying up a security guard at the scene. The robbery took place on the night of January 10, and the club was due to open on January 24. The thugs broke in and stole almost everything, including CCTV cameras and servers.
During the robbery, one of the club’s security guards had his hands and feet tied, and his mouth covered with a polythene bag before being locked in a dark room. The robbery lasted for more than two hours, and the guard was rescued by the police, who arrived at the scene after the incident.
The mastermind of the robbery hired a truck to transport the stolen items and is at large. However, two suspects of the more than five men he hired for the job are in custody at South B Police Station. These suspects, Eric Mwangi, Timothy Ng’ang’a, and Duncan Oluoch, are believed to have been involved in the robbery.
The third suspect, Oluoch, was found to have been in constant communication with the suspected robbery mastermind. The police have also learned that the items stolen during the robbery were loaded onto another lorry and taken away to another location to ensure that those involved in the theft do not know where they were taken.
The mastermind of the robbery, who received over Sh400,000 on the night of the robbery, narrowly escaped the police dragnet but is being closely monitored. The police believe it is only a matter of time before he is arrested. Additionally, the security guards who allegedly assisted in the robbery are also at large and are being sought by the police.
