Kenya Pipeline marked an impressive victory on Thursday in the women’s Kenya Volleyball Federation National League, coming from a set down to defeat perennial rivals Kenya Prison with a score of 3-1 (26-28, 25-15, 25-20, 25-11) at Malaba Stadium in Busia County. The win solidified the Oilers’ position at the top of the league standings, extending their lead with 17 points from six matches, two points ahead of the KCB Women’s Volleyball Team. KCB secured a 3-0 victory against Kenya Army at the same venue, maintaining their strong position in the standings. Meanwhile, Kenya Prisons remain in third place with 12 points from five matches.

The match was a good welcome for former Kenyan International Esther Jepkosgei, who was recently appointed as the coach of Kenya Pipeline. She took over from coach Paul Gitau, who was asked to step down by the Kenya Pipeline Company for alleged misconduct. The victory against Kenya Prison was a significant feat for Jepkosgei in her new coaching role.

In other women’s league results, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) emerged victorious over Nairobi Prisons with a score of 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18). Meanwhile, Kenya Army continues their search for a first win after suffering a 3-0 defeat to KCB, placing them at seventh position in the 12-team League.

Switching to the men’s league, Administration Police of Kenya (APK) secured a 3-1 win against Trailblazers, marking the latter’s first loss of the season. Trailblazers had previously gone unbeaten in five matches. APK later recorded a second win of the day by defeating Western Prisons 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 17-25, 25-11). Former champions and leaders General Services Unit (GSU) also maintained their unbeaten run, bagging two wins against Kenya Army and Mt Kenya Base Yetu with scores of 3-0 in both matches, leading the standings with 24 points from eight matches.

In other men’s league results, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) emerged victorious over Equity Bank with a score of 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-23) and Western Prisons with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-10, 25-18). Kenya Army also recorded their first win after defeating Nairobi Prisons with a score of 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 29-31, 25-23).

Equity Bank later recovered from their defeat to KDF, securing a 3-0 victory against Rift Valley Prisons (25-20, 25-11, 25-21). Lastly, Kenya Ports Authority triumphed over Kenya Forest Service with a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-15, 25-21), rounding off a series of exciting matches in the league.

Overall, the recent matches in the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League showcased the competitive spirit and talent of the participating teams, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
