The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns about the alleged plot by the government of Ademola Adeleke to target and recover allegedly looted vehicles from former government officials and chieftains of the party. The APC is appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the chiefs of the security agencies in the country to protect its members from arbitrary blacklisting and violent attacks by the state government.
The opposition party also criticized the prolonged shutdown of the courts by the state government, describing it as inhuman and a security threat due to the high number of lawsuits that have been left unresolved. They believe that these actions could potentially lead to avoidable crises in the state.
In response, the Director of Media and Publicity of the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the APC for exaggerating the situation and accused them of creating unnecessary panic.
Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has inaugurated a five-man committee to establish a Security Trust Fund in the state. The governor emphasized that the fund is aimed at enhancing the security and safety of residents by addressing the logistical and operational needs of the various security services in the state. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to secure the lives and property of the people in Osun State.
The APC’s appeals and concerns were brought to light during a briefing with journalists, where they expressed their worries about the potential consequences of the government’s actions. On the other hand, the PDP defended the government’s decisions and accused the APC of fearmongering.
Overall, the political landscape in Osun State is filled with tensions and accusations, with both parties standing firm in their positions. The establishment of the Security Trust Fund by Governor Adeleke reflects the government’s commitment to addressing security challenges in the state.
